From August 2013 to December 2015, Liv Colliander attended the American Film Institute's Conservatory as a Directing Fellow.

During her first year, she directed three short films; Hey Love, SNAP, Now or Never. As well as three 16 mm MOS projects in collaboration with the cinematography discipline; Lifetime Sentence, Mommy, and Tinta. The second year was focused on her Thesis film DRYLAND.
